I am a born and bred Pretorian, having matriculated from Pretoria Boys High and completing my undergraduate training at the University of Pretoria in 2003. Following my years of internship, community service and 2 seasons in sports medicine, I commenced my specialist training at the University of Pretoria. I qualified as an ophthalmologist in 2012 and in 2013 completed a year-long fellowship in ‘Cornea & External Disease’ under one of the doyens of cornea transplant surgery, Dr Mark Terry, at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, USA.
I have been in private practice at the Pretoria Eye Institute since mid-2015 with colleagues Drs Petrus Gous, Niel Cornelius, Liezel van der Merwe & Charl Weitz. Although I aim to provide a comprehensive ophthalmological service, my main interests are related to the anterior segment of the eye – cornea, cataract and refractive surgery.
I am married to Gardiol and we have two daughters and a son.
