Dr Annalien Steyn

Hello, I am Dr Annalien Steyn and I am thrilled to share my passion for ophthalmology with you. Since a young age, I have been fascinated by the complexities of the human eye and its remarkable role in how we experience the world. Eyes are beautiful, intricate, critical and essential to keep in good health. This led me first to the University of Pretoria where I began my journey as a medical student and then to Cape Town to specialize in Ophthalmology under the tutorage of great mentors.

I am a true clinician and find great joy in sitting and talking with a patient, getting to a diagnosis and seeing patients get better with treatment.  In my practice, I focus on a range of services, including cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma management, retinal disorders and paediatric eye conditions.

Ophthalmology is an ever-evolving field with new technology and visual options continually available. As an Ophthalmologist, I can offer patients more treatments and solutions than ever before. I find immense joy in using the latest technological advancements to help my patients regain and preserve their vision.

When I am not in the office or operating room, I am often involved in research and continued learning. It is an honour to be part of such a transformative profession, and I take my responsibility to contribute to and stay abreast of research very seriously.
