Dr Gedion Makakase

Dr Gedion Makakase is a General Ophthalmologist. His special interest among others include  Cataract and Refractive surgery, Glaucoma, Retina and Paediatric ophthalmology. Dr MG Makakase has been involved in the field of Medicine for many years as Medical Officer, Principal Medical Officer and Specialist. Therefore he has acquired vast experience to treat legions of  eye diseases.

Dr MG Makakase is passionate about his work and his main objective is: ‘…that you may see’.

What drives him is the knowledge that: “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,”

Dr Makakase is involved in community work doing cataract outreach programmes especially in previously disadvantaged communities. He also runs a growing ophthalmology practice in Mahikeng.

Dr Makakase emphasises that the eye is part of a body and therefore he has surrounded himself with a pool of general practitioners, optometrists, physicians and other health care specialists working in tandem to give his patients wholeness of health and wellness experience.

He has served as a director of the Ophthalmology Management Group(OMG) and is a member of OSSA.

Dr Makakase is a family man enjoying enormous support from his darling wife and his children. He is also a staunch believer and gets his inspiration from reading the bible.
